What Carat Hunter shows
Carat Hunter is an independent index of diamonds that retailers publicly advertise for sale on their own websites. For each listing we record what the retailer advertised and when: the diamond's specifications and certificate, the price, and whether it was still offered. We link to the retailer's own page. We do not sell diamonds and we are not a party to any sale.
Everything else you see on a diamond page, including our scores, price comparisons, market analysis and price history, is our own work. Links to retailers, grading laboratories and similar services are ordinary links to their websites.
Keeping listings accurate
If a listing on Carat Hunter looks wrong (the diamond has sold, the price or details differ from the retailer's own page, or a link no longer works), tell us through the listing correction form, or from the diamond's page. You only need the certificate number.
We check what the retailer currently advertises and update our record where it differs. We apply the same test to every report, whoever sends it: what the retailer is publicly offering. Each listing shows when we last saw it on the retailer's website.
Diamonds that are no longer available
When a retailer stops offering a diamond, we mark that listing as no longer available. Records of past listings and prices may remain on Carat Hunter as part of our market history, shown as no longer available.
Requests to remove accurate listings
We do not remove accurate information about diamonds that retailers publicly advertise, or have advertised, because a supplier, manufacturer, owner or any other party asks us to. Carat Hunter exists to give buyers an independent view of the market, and removing records on request would make that view selective.
If you would like a diamond to stop being advertised, the retailer's website is the source: once a retailer removes a listing, our record is updated when we next check it.
General
Carat Hunter decides how listings, including historical records, are presented and retained. We may update this policy from time to time; the current version is always on this page.
